5 Powerful Home Remedies for Tonsillitis That Work Fast!
(Kansas, USA )
Want to get rid of those awful swollen tonsils quickly without the need for antibiotics? Here's 5 natural remedies & home cures for tonsillitis & tonsil stones you definitely must consider...
Hello. I have horrendous swollen tonsils that are so bad I cannot swallow without suffering excruciating pain! Are there any home remedies that can not only reduce the pain and inflammation, but actually cure my tonsillitis permanently?
Thank you in advance.
Tonsillitis occurs when the tonsils (lymph nodes located at the sides of the throat) become inflamed and swollen. This problem is most prevalent in children, however, many adults also regularly suffer from tonsillitis. A viral or bacterial infection is the most common cause and main instigator of enlarged tonsils and tonsil stones. Symptoms include sore throat, swollen tonsil glands, fever, difficulty/painful swallowing, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, headache and bad breath. Tonsillitis is highly contagious and the virus or bacteria can spread quickly from person to person through coughing or sneezing - or through personal contact. Thankfully, getting rid of swollen tonsils (and getting rid of them permanently) is quite easy when using certain natural treatments and home remedies.
Here's 5 of the best...
Natural Cure for Tonsillitis #1... Organic Coconut Oil: Coconut oil works a treat on swollen tonsils and should definitely be your first "go to" remedy. It's one of the most powerful natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents discovered thus far. The lauric acid contained in coconut oil quickly destroys all bacteria, viruses and fungi in the body, along with giving the immune system a significant boost.
To use, simply gargle a tablespoon (15 ml's) of raw organic virgin coconut oil for a minute or so then spit out (avoid swallowing). The coconut oil needs to be at liquid temperature so you may need to heat slightly beforehand. Do this twice daily, first thing in the morning and then again in the evening. It will usually only take around 24 hours for the swelling and inflammation to recede. We recommend you continue to gargle your coconut oil twice daily until your tonsillitis is completely gone, then drop down to once per day permanently to keep your tonsillitis away for good.
In addition to gargling coconut oil, it's also an excellent idea to consume internally 1-2 tablespoons of organic virgin coconut oil every day to boost your immune system and help keep any infections away. When you start doing this, you'll soon begin to notice that you have much more energy and you get sick far less often. It works like a charm!
Just remember to only ever use raw organic virgin coconut oils and not the processed oils (these will actually make your tonsillitis worse). Here's some of the best brands on the market if you're interested... Best Organic Virgin Coconut Oils
Home Remedy for Swollen Tonsils #2... Salt Gargle: If you don't have access to organic virgin coconut oil then the "tried and true" salt gargle should be your next pick (you can even do this in conjunction with your coconut oil gargle for extra fast healing and relief). Just make sure you only use ground up Himalayan pink rock salt (crystal salt) or certified
organic sea salt. Do not use normal table salt or iodized salt as these will also aggravate your tonsillitis and make it worse.
So all you do is mix a teaspoon of salt (add a squeeze of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of honey for extra benefit) in a cup of lukewarm filtered water and gargle for 30-40 seconds then spit out. Continue to do this until the cup is empty. Be sure to repeat this process 3-4 times a day for best results.
Natural Remedy for Tonsillitis #3... Hydrogen Peroxide (HP): Hydrogen peroxide is another potent anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent that you can't go wrong using. It kills bacterial, viral and fungal infections in the body extremely fast with a minimum of fuss - and as long as you use as directed, it will not cause any adverse effects (only powerful positive effects!)
Mix a tablespoon of the 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (such as this one
) with a tablespoon of distilled or clean filtered water. Gargle this solution for around one minute or so then spit out. Once again, make sure you don't swallow the mixture as it will contain toxins and bacteria. Be sure to do this HP gargle 3-4 times a day to enjoy some quick and welcome relief.
Natural Cure for Swollen Tonsils #4... Garlic: Good old fashioned garlic helps with just about any health problem or ailment... and tonsillitis is certainly one of them! To get rid of swollen tonsils and keep them away for good you must boost your immune system AND continue to keep it elevated.
Garlic (and onions) does this to a "T".
Garlic also contains some strong antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a perfect recipe for curing tonsillitis. Simply make yourself a healthy rich garlic soup (here's a handy recipe from Wellness Mama
) and consume this throughout the day.
Home Remedy for Tonsillitis #5... Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): Yet another one of natures powerful anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and immune boosting foods - ACV was actually a favorite and one of the preferred "remedies of choice" for the father of medicine, Hippocrates. For best results, apple cider vinegar should be gargled AND drank daily.
For gargling, mix together a tablespoon of warm filtered water, a tablespoon of raw organic ACV containing the "mother" apple (do not use processed vinegar's for this) and a teaspoon of natural honey and "gargle" this solution for 30-40 seconds. Spit out afterwards. Repeat this process 3 times each day.
NOTE: Gargling ACV has been known to burn the throat if it's red raw, so be sure to test this remedy out first by doing a quick 10 second gargle to be sure.
To drink the ACV, mix a tablespoon in a glass of warm filtered water along with a teaspoon of raw honey. Drink this concoction first thing in the morning and again last thing at night. When it comes to purchasing your ACV, Bragg's apple cider vinegar
is definitely the best if you can get it.
So hopefully these tips and remedies help you out Georgina.
Good luck and all the best to you!
