ANSWER:

Stuttering or stammering is defined as “the inability to push out a specific letter or syllable when speaking”. It’s estimated that around 1.5% of the world’s population is affected by this speech disorder, so if you suffer from it, you’re certainly not alone. Contrary to popular belief, stuttering is not “all in your head”. There are specific reasons as to why you stammer when speaking, all of which will be revealed to you in this article.

Stammering is one of those problems that unless you’ve experienced it, you really don’t understand just how frustrating and annoying it really is. I was a stutterer when I was a kid. Not a bad one, but one nevertheless. Like most sufferers, for me it was certain words. Starting a sentence with the word “you” was really tough. I just couldn’t do it. In fact, any word beginning with the letter “y” gave me grief. Today, I don’t have any problems. The reason I don’t is because of what I’m going to be sharing with you here. These techniques and remedies definitely work. And the great thing about them is you don’t need to spend hours a day implementing and following them. To get rid of your stuttering for good and be able to speak clearly, there are 5 key things that you need to do.

Here they are in no particular order…


How to Stop Stuttering Remedy #1… Magnesium: Magnesium is a powerful natural body relaxant. Most people stutter when they’re anxious or nervous. As they begin to struggle with their words, their anxiety levels rise and they begin to stutter even more. Magnesium helps put an end to this. When your body is relaxed, particularly your lungs, you breathe deeper (not shallow) and words just naturally flow better. This is the reason why a stammerer speaks more clearly when they’re stoned - cannabis relaxes the body (we don’t recommend this practice for treating stuttering by the way). But you don’t need to resort to this practice. Simply getting plenty of magnesium into you will have the same effect.

So the first thing you need to do is go out and purchase a supplement called Natural Calm (here’s what it looks like). Thankfully, boosting your body’s alkalinity and oxygen levels is easy to do, and that’s where the baking soda and lemon juice come in. Simply mix ½ teaspoon of baking soda and 1/8th of a teaspoon of lemon or lime juice (or roughly ½ squeezed lemon) in a glass of clean filtered water and drink down. Drink this mix twice daily on an empty stomach and you should notice a significant improvement in your stammering within 2-3 days.


Natural Remedy for Stuttering #3… Foods That Cure Stammering: Certain foods help alkalize (oxygenate) the body while others have the reverse effect. Refined (sugary) food and drinks (cola drinks, etc), along with processed foods and junk foods, produce acid in the body (opposite of alkaline) so these are best kept to a minimum. Fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly green leafy vegetables, increase alkalinity in the body so try and eat these foods as much as you can. Home Cure for Stuttering #5… Breathing Exercise: I watched a documentary quite a few years ago where a guy (an ex-stutterer) made a guarantee that if he wasn’t able to stop you from stuttering, his program was free. Of the 10 chronic stammerers that he worked with on the show, every one of them were cured of their problem within a week. At the end of it, all of them had to stand up in front of a large group of people and make a speech. This was their final hurdle, and they all passed with flying colors!

So what was his technique based on? Breathing. Remember, shallow breathing causes a lack of oxygen in the body and also forces you to try and speak when you don’t have enough oxygen in your lungs. The result is stuttering and stammering. When you’re nervous or anxious you breathe shallow, which is why your stuttering is at its worst during this time. What you need to do to overcome this is focus on lifting your chest up and breathing from your diaphragm, not your gut. Bring in the air so it fills the top of your lungs (chest/top of rib-cage area). A way to get yourself into this breathing habit is to take a belt and strap it around your torso just below your ribcage (tighten enough so you can still breathe comfortably). Keeping your chest up, breathe in full breaths and exhale fully. As you do this, begin speaking out loud on each exhale using words you usually struggle with. Practice doing this a few times each day and you’ll see some great improvement. Make sure you use the belt until you get to a point where you can deep breathe without even having to think about it. Combined with the other remedies and techniques listed above, this exercise works like a charm.
