Herpes Testing - What Works, What Doesn't, and Where to go From Here...

QUESTION:

I went in for some routine tests and my doctor has just informed me that I've tested positive for the herpes virus. I'm freaking out right now! How accurate are these tests and is it worth me getting retested just to be sure?

ANSWER:

The first thing you must do is not panic about your test results. Yes this can be difficult, but you need to understand what your test actually means. Unfortunately, herpes testing is a very misunderstood subject. Even most doctors do not understand how they work, how reliable they are, or what they even mean. So lets go through this all in more detail...

Firstly, you must fully understand what the herpes virus is and the difference between herpes 1 (HSV1) and herpes 2 (HSV2) before you can understand the different testing procedures. Please take the time to read this short article by herpes expert, Dr Jen Gunter (yes this may sound silly as you've probably already researched the herpes virus to the point of exhaustion, but this article is worth reading)... Herpes 101: The difference between herpes type 1 and type 2.

The most common tests for the herpes virus (type I & type II) are swab tests and blood tests (IgG, IgM and Western blot).

A swab test is really only useful when you have a fresh lesion or outbreak. This can then be analysed to see if you have herpes 1 or herpes 2. The problem with swab tests though is they can be inconclusive. Even if the lesion is fresh the result can still come back negative. You should not overly rely on this test.

Many doctors will tell you that an IgM antibody blood test can tell you when you contracted the herpes virus and if it's type I or type II. This is simply not true. Dr Jen Gunter says... "If your provider offers an IgM test, get up and leave because they do not know anything about herpes or testing. IgM tests for herpes are highly unreliable for the diagnosis of herpes virus infections and should never be ordered." IgM Blood Test for Herpes... Just Say No.

You then have the IgG blood test (ELISA or Immunoblot "type specific"). This is considered to be a fairly reliable test - to a point. An IgG test can tell if you have herpes 1 or herpes 2, but because it can take the immune system up to 6 months to produce IgG antibodies, it can take up to 6 months for a test to turn positive. It can also take AT LEAST 6 months for a positive test to turn negative when eradicating the virus from the body (yes, the herpes virus can be eradicated... Natural Herpes Cure). Be aware though that IgG tests have been known to throw up false negatives AND false positives so this test is still not 100% absolute. An IgG result below 3 is considered a "low-positive" but could also be a "false positive". Any result between 1 and 3 will require further testing if you want absolute confirmation. The Western blot test is that such test...

The only 100% accurate herpes test is the Western blot test available from the University of Washington. This is considered the gold standard of herpes testing. However, it's not
cheap and it's not easy to get. This article explains how you can go about getting the Western blot test done if you're interested... False Positive HSV-2 Igg test and Western Blot.

And for everything you need to know about the different forms of herpes testing and what they all mean, we also recommend you take the time to read through this informative article... Understanding Your Blood Tests for Herpes.

Finally, you need to believe that the herpes virus (both HSV1 AND HSV2) is 100% curable! The medical profession will tell you that it's not, and once you have it you have it for life. This is a complete lie. ANY virus can be destroyed and eradicated, if you know how. Follow our natural herpes cure protocol, which includes the very potent olive leaf extract, oregano oil and colloidal silver combination, to rid yourself of this horrible virus for good.

To finish off, here's what our good friend James at destroydiseases says about herpes testing and ridding the body of this virus...

"There has been some controversy over getting tested to see if the virus is still in your system. The medical tests for herpes currently only test for antibodies in the blood. This means that even if the virus has been eliminated or inactive, the test will more than likely still give a positive outcome when you first attempt this test. This does not mean the virus is still active in the body.
In order to test negative, you must completely detox the body. All heavy metals need to be released. Everybody has heavy metals - they come in many forms. Lead and mercury are just some of the toxins, hence heavy metals. After pure oregano oil has been used for several months and no more outbreaks have been present, only then is the virus presumed to be inactive. Once the blood has been fully cleaned and detoxified, a negative test result should be possible!! This will take several more months after the virus has been presumed to be killed, showing no symptoms or outbreaks.
Drinking grapefruit juice or freshly squeezed orange juice is a good way to test and see if the virus is still active in the body. These fruits should be eaten or juiced several times per week while detoxing. These fruits will cause outbreaks in most cases, only until the virus has been completely killed. As time goes on, the outbreaks will become less and less aggressive and last only a few days. This is a general rule of thumb, of course, and everybody is different."
destroydiseases.com.

FINAL NOTE: The Centers for Disease Control strongly advises people to NOT get routine "screening" blood tests done for the herpes virus, for the simple reason that they can (and often do) throw up false negatives AND false positives. Unless you have a specific breakout or lesion or believe you have been infected, do not order a herpes test. Remember this... by age 30 almost everyone is positive herpes 1. So basically, we all have it! Why order a "routine" test that's more than likely going to come up positive. It means nothing and will only give you a lot of unnecessary grief.

Hope this helps you out.

Good luck and all the best to you,

Dangers of BHT and Colloidal Silver?
by: Anonymous

I've heard really bad things about these two supplements. That they both can cause permanent yellowing of your skin and possible damage to your internal organs. I also read that too much of the silver from the colloidal silver can build up in your body at toxic levels. Are these statements true? Isn't it just safer to only use OLE, Oregano oil, and Lysine?

The negativity you read about colloidal silver and BHT are pure scare campaigns that stem from the medical mafia. They know these work and they do not want you have them... plain and simple! With colloidal silver, silver hydrosol (the one we recommend) cannot cause toxicity. In fact, you could take it 7 times a day for 70 years and it would still fall below the EPA's RFD for silver! As for the BHT, many people have taken this supplement without a break for 10 years and more and suffered no ill effects (only positive effects). As long as you don't exceed 1000 mg's a day there is no toxicity and nothing to worry about. Have a read of this reputable article for more information on this... BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene)

Recently Contracted hsv2
by: Jesse

Hello, thank you so much for this wealth of information! I recently contracted HSV2, and the doctor told me my first outbreak was just folliculitis, but the rash came back 2 more times soon afterwards, so I was retested last week the antibody test was positive sadly. My main concern is that I think I may have given it to this woman I've been sleeping with lately. She just had a very strange fever that lasted only one night, and it was around the time I had a breakout. You say one must rid their body of heavy metals so the issue is that she has Amalgam fillings, which I know are extremely toxic, but I can't convince her to have them removed. Is there any hope for her to get better with those fillings still in her mouth? Thank you for all your advice!

Hi Jesse. Firstly, your lady friend should get tested before she does anything. She needs to know for sure if she's contracted the virus or if her fever was caused by something else. Yes, amalgam fillings do leach heavy metals into the body. If she is positive and is not convinced to have them removed then at the very least, try and convince her to do oil pulling every day. Oil pulling using coconut oil (and done first thing in the morning as soon as you awake) is a very powerful way to remove toxins and heavy metals from the body... especially from the mouth. Here's some more information on this if you're interested... Coconut Oil Pulling Benefits & How-to Guide.

Understanding my results?
by: Anonymous

Hi Troy, please help me understand my results. I had blood work done and tested positive for Hsv 1 and 2. The IgG results for the hsv 1 say 51.20 and the hsv 2 21.20. The index says >1.09 is positive, so does my results mean my levels are very high and I definitely have it (and I had it for a while)? And also, I’ve had a cold since the day I think I contracted it from my ex, which is 6 months ago. Is it normal to have a cold due to catching this disease. Please Help!!

Your levels are not high. As for how long you've had it for? Almost impossible to say. An IgG test (which is one of the best) wont actually tell you this, it will only tell you that you were infected at some point and which HSV you have. Trying to decipher herpes tests is difficult, even most doctors scratch their heads with these. I recommend you begin focusing on how you're going to eliminate the virus rather than your test results. As far as getting a cold around infection time? Yes, this is very common. You're immune system was already low and the infection only made it worse. If you're struggling to get rid of the cold/flu virus then this is a sure sign that your immune system has been compromised big time. Start building up your immune system as soon as possible. Remember, supplements such as the olive leaf extract, colloidal silver and oregano oil are not only excellent for destroying ALL viruses (including herpes, cold/flu, etc), they also help build up your immune system.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and all the best to you!

Are my levels high?
by: Anonymous

I had a pcr test done a few months ago and it came back positive for genital hsv1. Recently I had the IgG and IgM test done. IgM was negative and IgG was positive for hsv1 at 9.74. Is that a high level and will it take long to detox my body of the virus with that level?

9.74 is considered a "moderate" reading and level. I recommend you don't focus on how long it's going to take, and instead, focus on what you need to do to get that negative test. It may take 8 months or it may take 24 months. Make sure you're in for the long haul (if need be) and you'll achieve that negative result.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and all the best to you! :)

Some Questions:
by: Josephine

Hi Troy,

Thank you for your excellent information on this website.
I have some questions about the elimination Herpes protocol:

Question 1: Instead of taking the oregano oil in water, I take 3-4 drops of oregano oil (AM and PM), in coconut oil and swallow it, Is this a good alternative for taking the oregano oil in water? I struggle to take it in water because it feels too harsh on my throat.

Question 2: I read that some supplements are not good to take during this protocol, because they feed the virus, like Acetyl L Carnitine. So I stopped taking it. Do you know if I can still take the following supplements:
Co enzyme Q10
Glutathion
Alpha Lipoic Acid
B vitamins

Question 3: I have been outbreak free now for about 4 months because I was already following a protocol with olive leaf (but a lower amount) and black cumin seed and silver and I have also been on a strict MMS protocol for 6-7 weeks.
Now I’m starting your protocol. Will the olive leaf, silver and oregano as described in your protocol be sufficient? As I am not experiencing any symptoms, I think the virus is already very weak. Or do I still need to add in the BHT and St. Johnsworth? Or would you advise testing first?

Question 4: About testing, I live in Europe (The Netherlands) do you have any advise for me how to get accurate tests done? Because the Western Blot test seems to be done only in the States.

Thank you so much for your help and all this information. It is helping so many people in such a huge way! When I have eliminated the virus I will send a lengthy testimonial with all the steps followed.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Hi Josephine.

The oregano oil needs to be rubbed on the lower spine, taken with coconut oil and held under the tongue for 10 minutes (then swallowed) and also taken orally with water. Have read of our article again if you need a refresher. In regards to the OO in water? If you find it harsh on your throat then I recommend going with the oregano oil capsules instead.

Yes, it's good idea to leave out the carnitine, however, the other supplements you list are fine.

You can always leave the BHT out for the time being and see how you go. If you start getting breakouts then you can always add it in then, that would still be okay.

Don't forget about the other recommendations as well, particularly #11 (Foods to Avoid - Foods to Eat).

In regards to testing, the good old fashioned IgG type specific test is still perfectly okay. It is true that living outside of the U.S. makes it virtually impossible to get the Western blot test. The IgG will tell you whether you have the virus or not.

Hope this helps.

All the best to you! :)

Supplements.. good or bad?
by: AB

James Destroys Diseases is not a fan of supplements or colloidal silver. I am trying to do what is best. I am eating mostly raw, waiting on his oil of oregano and I just received olive leaf extract capsules that was mentioned on this site. Can you explain to me why you are ok with the supplements (vitamins, probiotics, etc.) and colloidal silver and he is not?? Also, will I still be successful if I leave the colloidal silver out? Thank you!

When it comes to supplements, I always advocate that "natural" is best. Synthetic vitamins and minerals are not natural. What are natural are... probiotics (yes, these are natural and absolutely essential along with eating lots of probiotic rich foods), organic wheat grass or barley grass powder (both are rich in natural vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, etc), olive leaf extract (also a natural substance), oregano oil, and cilantro. Yes, colloidal silver is not technically "natural", however, this is the one supplement that James and I don't agree on. Colloidal silver is extremely powerful and I believe you absolutely need it to get rid of the herpes virus. I recommend you have a read of this article by Dr Josh Axe for more information on the benefits of colloidal silver... 8 Proven Colloidal Silver Benefits, Uses & Side Effects.

Hope this helps.

Raw vs Cooked
by: Josephine

Dear Troy,

Thank you for your answers. I’ve added your recommendations to my protocol.

About my diet: I have stopped sugar, coffee, alcohol, chocolate, gluten, processed foods and dairy. I drink Matcha green latte every morning (with oat milk). I use raw Manuka honey and heavy metal eliminators such as chlorella, Fulvic Acid and "blue gold" from spirulina. I add wheatgrass to my smoothies along with berries and maqui powder for anti oxidants.

However, my orthomolecular doctor is advising me to eat cooked vegetables and more protein based on my digestion and blood values. She is aware of my intentions to eliminate the virus but in her opinion it is still better to cook or grill the vegetables and meat for better absorption and digestion instead of eating them raw. But doesn’t this contradict the detoxification process? If it does, I want to prioritise eliminating the virus. What is your take on this? Will cooked vegetables and meat slow down or even stop the elimination of the virus? (The meat and veggies are organic).

2. Since I’ve already done 8 weeks of Chlorine Dioxide, will I still need to add the hydrogen Peroxide? Or will the supplements be enough (olive leaf, oregano, silver)? I am already outbreak free for 5 months now.

3. I’ve read that oil pulling (the oregano protocol) draws out toxins and if you swallow the oil after 10 minutes, the toxins will re-enter your system. What is your take on this? Wouldn’t it be better to put oregano in coconut oil under your tongue for just a minute than swallow it and then do the oil pulling (without oregano) and spit it out after 10 minutes?

Thanks again so much Troy for your time. I am very committed to be the next Heather/Jessica success story and will spread the message once I have tested negative. I’ve been through almost all of your answers on this website and your patience and devotion is incredible!!

Much love,

Josephine.

Hi Josephine. Firstly, you're on the right track, which is terrific. Keep it up. Now in regards to cooking your meat and vegetables? Meat should always be cooked of course, but with your vegetables there is no harm in cooking them (roasting preferably). Use a combination of eating cooked vegetables/herbs AND adding some raw to smoothies (raw cilantro, kale, etc). This works quite nicely. As far as using the HP? You could still do a 3 month cycle, there is no harm in doing this just to give your body an extra boost. With the oregano oil/coconut oil under the tongue? I always say to people that by the time you've had it in your mouth for 20 minutes or so there wont be much left. Leaving it under the tongue for only a minute isn't really long enough. You could still hold it under the tongue for 8-10 minutes then spit it out if you wish. There is no "absolute" way as such. Remember also, oil pulling should be done first thing in the morning before you have anything to eat or drink.

Hope this helps you out Josephine.

You definitely have the right attitude and dedication, which is why I know you're going to make it.

All the best to you! :)

Rest day
by: Anonymous

Dear Troy,

I have another question, and thank you for answering my previous questions!

Would it be a good idea to have 1 rest day in the week, meaning on that day I will not take olive leaf, silver or oregano oil and no other supplements, just to give my body and liver a rest and then on all other 6 days do the full protocol? What do you think, would that be beneficial?

Then another question about your previous answer about the oil pulling: "I always say to people that by the time you've had it in your mouth for 20 minutes or so there won't be much left." Do you mean there won't be much left of the toxins or heavy metals?

Thanks again, I so much appreciate your time and effort.

Having one rest day a week from the oregano oil and colloidal silver (and BHT if you're taking it) is a good idea, however, the other supplements do no need to be rested. The OLE, wheat grass powder, probiotics, etc, should be taken every day. Also, when you take a day off from the OO and colloidal silver do not do them both on the same day. For instance, rest the OO on a Sunday and the colloidal silver on a Thursday. In regards to the coconut oil, I mean there wont be much of the oil left because it mixes with your saliva (you aren't swallowing so there will be a saliva build up).

Hope this helps.

All the best to you! :)

Review Protocol and diet
by: Josephine

Dear Troy,

I have been outbreak free for around 8 months and am doing your protocol for around 4 months now. Last few days however I went to France and had some sun and yesterday I discovered I had an outbreak. Not a huge one, but it's definitely an outbreak. This is a big disappointment. I know the sun can trigger outbreaks, so I think it was the sun. But could it also be a new supplement I have been taking: Wild yam and Don Quai?

I would like to review my protocol, can you advise me?

For the last 4 months I have been taking:
4-6 Ole capsules on an empty stomach
1-2 Oregano oil softgels on an empty stomach
oregano oil in coconut oil put on the lower spine 2x a day and in the mouth 2x a day
30 ml nano silver, so twice a day 15 ml
(Since yesterday I added BHT and St Johns Wort)

Then for diet:

I do eat meat, organic chicken, organic beef and sometimes fish. I have been eating this throughout the protocol and I eat it because I will be underweight if I don't. I also eat potatoes, baked or cooked. I eat oatmeal and cooked vegetables. I make green smoothies and I add blue algae and fulvic acid for heavy metal removal. I drink 1-2 matcha latte's a day with manuka honey and oatmilk.

I quit dairy, porc, coffee and chocolate.
I have cheated tho, just a few times during these 4 months with coffee and chocolate. Do I completely need to stop all cheating? Please just tell me!!! and I will be 100% strict.

My orthomolecual therapist is afraid that the above supplements will ruin my (good) gut bacteria, what is your take on that?

Thanks so much in advance,

Josephine

You're not really doing anything wrong as such, although the little "cheat" meals can certainly have an effect. I don't think the sun or new supplements you're taking are a huge factor, I just think you're not quite there yet. In regards to your good gut bacteria, it's crucial that you replenish the supply and build it up. I make this point many times. 70-80% of your immune system is located in your gut. It's one of the most important organs. Look into fermenting your own foods... kefir, sauerkraut, etc. Search for "how to" articles or go on YouTube and watch some of the video's they have there.

Hope this helps.

Protocol review
by: Josephine

Hi Troy,

Thank you very much for answering!
So are you saying if I just stay committed to this protocol for longer, I will succeed in eliminating it entirely? Just keep going basically?

Trusting that this really works is a bit challenging but I don't think I have another option. It would be great and motivating to speak to other people that have tested negative after doing this protocol :) For moral support ;)

(Especially because all the regular doctors and so called experts tell you you'll have it for life.)

Again thanks so much for your help.

Love,
Josephine

Zapper
by: Josephine

Dear Troy,

Hope you are good.
I am on the protocol for over a year now and it is going very well, no more OB's :)
Still I feel I need to continue for a few months more as I have a sense the virus is still in my body, although it's very weak. I would like to give it a final blow with the Zapper from Hulda Clarke.

But there are so many different types of Hulda Clarke zappers that I don't know which one to choose. So I would like to ask you: If there is one specific zapper type that you would recommend, can you let me know which one? Name, type, link? Which one is the best in your opinion?

It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Josephine

Do antibody levels raise while doing the protocol?
by: Tammy

Hello Troy, want to start by saying thank you for offering all of this information & being so gracious as to answer questions regarding it all, many thanks to you. So in February I got an IGg test performed prior to beginning your natural herpes treatment protocol to know what count I was starting with, & results came back positive with a measure of 10.70. Prior to finding this article about testing, in August I retested to check progress. Another IGg test with a reading of 14.20 this time. I have not experienced any outbreaks this whole 6 months I've been doing the protocol, is that good or bad? And big question being, could the increase in antibodies be because my body is fighting the virus? Will antibody levels raise as immunoresponse is attacking the virus before dropping as the virus is depleted? Was very discouraged to see a raised count, can you please explain why this may be? Also is it really so bad, am I really refuting good im doing by eating nuts because arginine content? In trying to follow a healthful diet nuts are a go to for me. And is Stevia bad to be having while doing all this? I appreciate your taking the time to read this & look forward to your reply, thank you!

It's very common for antibody levels to rise before they fall so do not be alarmed. The fact that you're not getting outbreaks is encouraging and means you're on the right track. With arginine containing foods, just remember that everyone reacts differently. You may not get breakouts from eating nuts but someone else may do. This is where you need to experiment a little. You're doing good so keep it up.

Hope this helps.

All the best to you Tammy! 😊
